Why do I need a PIN?

You may create a PIN when activating your card or you can update your PIN when checking your card's balance.

Your plastic Visa or Mastercard gift card can be used in-store like a regular debit card! When swiping your card at the register, select the Debit option and enter your 4-digit PIN (Personal Identification Number). To forego this step, you can also hit the green button on the card machine when asked to enter your PIN.

A PIN is not required for online purchases or in-store transactions if you select the credit option. Virtual Visa and Mastercard gift cards will not have the option to assign a PIN as they can only be used for online purchases. If you are making an online purchase with your card and are asked to enter a PIN, you are most likely entering your card information in the gift card section rather than entering your info like you would a debit/credit card.
