Checking Your Visa or Mastercard Balance
You can check the balance on your Visa or Mastercard, issued by Gift Card Granny, at any time on our Balance Check page. The balance displayed reflects the amount available for spending on your card.
Important Considerations:
- Pending Charges: The available balance may be inaccurate if there are pending charges, unsettled refunds, or pre-authorization holds.
- Refunds: If you're expecting a refund, please allow up to 10 business days for the balance to update.
- Pre-Authorization Holds: Pending transactions or pre-authorizations typically settle within 5 business days, depending on the merchant.
Troubleshooting Balance Checks
If you can't check your card balance by phone or online, try the following:
- Confirm Your Card is Issued by Gift Card Granny: We can only check balances for cards issued through our site.
- Activate Your Card: Ensure your plastic Visa or Mastercard gift card is activated. Virtual cards must be claimed via email.
- Double-Check Your Card Details: Make sure you've entered your 16-digit card number and 3-digit CVV code correctly.
Common Balance Issues
If your balance seems incorrect, review your transaction history. The following may explain discrepancies:
- Pre-Authorization Charge: A pre-authorization charge (typically 20% above the total) may have been added for transactions at restaurants, hotels, or gas stations. This will adjust within a few days.
- Pending or Canceled Transactions: If a transaction was declined or canceled, funds may be temporarily held. These holds should release once the merchant settles the payment as declined.
- Refund Delays: Refunds can take up to 10 business days to appear. If a refund hasn't processed, contact the merchant to ensure it was issued.
- Unauthorized Charges: If there are unauthorized charges, you must dispute them directly with the merchant. Gift Card Granny's support team cannot issue refunds but can suspend or replace your card if necessary (minimal fees may apply).
