Can I add my gift card to my Apple or Google Mobile Wallet?

Yes. Both physical and digital Visa and Mastercard gift cards can be added to Apple and Google wallets.

Please review the instructions below for each card type and provider (Visa and Mastercard).

Visa

For Visa gift cards:
 

• Both physical and digital Visa gift cards can be added to Apple or Google wallets.
• For digital Visa gift cards, there is no card to scan — you will open the link provided with your gift to view and manually enter the card number, expiration date, and CVV.
• Visa gift cards issued on or after March 3, 2025 can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
• No verification is needed for Visa cards. Skip ahead to the Apple Wallet or Google Wallet steps below.

Mastercard

For Mastercard gift cards:

• You’ll need to verify your Mastercard gift card first. Simply follow the steps below.  

Verify your Mastercard gift card

Mastercard gift cards issued on or after March 3, 2025 can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Physical Mastercard

To register a physical Mastercard:

• Go to https://www.giftcardgranny.com/activate/ and enter the 8-character UID printed on the back of your card. You can do this even if your card has already been activated.
• Click the Add to Wallet button.
• Enter a valid phone number or email address you have access to.
• Proceed to add your card details to Apple Pay or Google Pay. After adding your card information, you will be presented an option to verify your card by text message or email. Retrieve that code and enter in the wallet.

Digital Mastercard

To register a digital Mastercard:

• Digital Mastercard gifts can be registered with the same instructions as above; however, you are not required to go to the Activation page.
• Simply use the website link provided with your gift to view your digital Mastercard and click the Add to Wallet button from that page.

Steps to add your Visa or Mastercard to a Digital Wallet

Add your gift card to Apple Wallet

• Step 1: Open the Wallet app on your Apple device.
• Step 2: Tap the + icon.
• Step 3: Select Debit or Credit Card.
• Step 4: Scan your card, or enter the card number, expiration date, and CVV manually. Choose the manual option for digital and eGift cards.
• Step 5: Follow the prompts to verify your card. You may receive a code by text or email.

Add your gift card to Google Wallet

• Step 1: Open the Google Wallet app. If needed, download it from the Google Play Store.
• Step 2: Tap Add to Wallet.
• Step 3: Select Payment card.
• Step 4: Scan your card, or enter the card number, expiration date, and CVV manually. Choose the manual option for digital and eGift cards.
• Step 5: Follow the prompts to verify your card. You may receive a code by text or email.

What if I don’t have a UID on my Physical Card?

Visa or Mastercard Gift Cards issued before 2021 may not have a UID printed on them. If you don’t see a UID on the back of your physical card:

• Call our automated phone line at the number on the back of your card. You can activate and check your balance using your 16-digit card number and 3-digit CVV.
• These cards cannot be added to a digital wallet.
